Half Term Cookery Day for Aged 4 - 11s

This day is about having fun, getting messy and hands on with food.  The children will make four scrummy recipes and be encouraged to taste, touch, and try new flavours.

The group will be split into two ( 4 to 7 yrs and 8 to 11yrs) for the morning and afternoon cookery sessions (but will be working in the same room), and come together for some of the foodie games, activities and lunch.

Children can come on their own, with friends or siblings across the primary school age range. Any children attending on their own will be nominated a buddy. We've also plenty of helpers at the ready.  (Should siblings not want to be split up into the older/younger groups we are happy to accommodate this.)

The younger children will enjoy a more structured environment, with lots of helper support, whilst the older children work under the watchful eye of chef Martin Doyle to work on some more challenging recipes, which include making a tasty home-made lunch for the full group.

"Thank you so much for yesterday. Particular favourites were making their own lunch, cooking lots of different recipes and the tasting game. We had the bread they made for breakfast this morning and it was delicious. It was a fantastic way for both kids to spend a day and we are looking forward (hoping!) you will run another course soon....once you have recovered!" Sarah, Mum of Joshua & Phoebe

The 4 - 11s cookery workshop will be a day of:

  • Foodie fun, whilst preparing and using plenty tasting raw, fresh and delicious ingredients
  • learning some basic cooking skills and techniques – adapted to the relevant age range, with more challenging recipes for the older group
  • cooking some wholesome, healthy dishes to take home
  • touch, taste & smell - blind tastings to challenge the taste buds and get them to try new things (spit box at the ready!!)
  • ..and responsibility for our older cooks – who have the challenge of making lunch!

"Megan just had the best time ever. She had a great time telling Daddy all the tiny details of how she made everything from 'scratch'. And the fun continued through the evening and the next day when Daddy just had to eat samples of all the goodies. His face was a picture when he discovered it was all edible! What fun. I was very impressed with everything, it was obvious that a lot of hard work had gone into the day. Congratulations to everyone." Jan, Grandmother to Megan
